Happiness Clinic in NewcastleIn reaction to the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on mental health, we invite you to co-create and co-curate with us “Happiness Clinic”, an ephemeral clinic, which will offer “artistic treatments”, cures, cares and therapies, in form of participatory performances to celebrate joy, happiness, and spread positivity in today's uncertain world.
Either online or offline, during one whole day the “Happiness Clinic” will open its fictional doors, and encourage the public to participate in totally free interactive performances. Selected through a transparent open call alongside three axes (“Care”, “Creation”, “Connection”), 6 Newcastle-based artists will imagine a participatory performance, coping with a variety of mental health and psychological problems, such as stress, anxiety, insomnia, denial and fear, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each artistic proposal will mix a performance art form (eg. ceremony, ritual, promenade, multi-sensorial experience, collective actions, gathering, public intervention, celebration, party...) with a wellbeing, healing or therapeutic practice (eg. naturopathy, aromatherapy, relaxation, dietetics, massage, reflexology, meditation, hair care, body care, ayurvedic care, stretching, pilates, tai chi chuan...). Each of them will be participatory, and engage actively the public. |
