Garden Party
In Japan, in the city of Nara, there is a botanical garden, called Manyo, in which every plant is accompanied by a short poem. In a certain form, this botanical garden is also a three dimensional anthology, in which the poems are plants and flowers.
During the Garden Party workshop, we will be text-performers, parcel-choreographers and garden-curators at the same time. We will talk about the relationship between text and performance, and discover different strategies of archiving and activating (notation, script, partition...) performance art pieces. We will write different types of texts (sms, tweet, diary, poem...), and "translate" them into a visual language. We will create settings, props, solo and group performances as well.
